Children trace the dotted lines and follow the correct stroke order, with animations appearing when letters and numbers are completed correctly.

The learning activities also cover early spelling and reading. Children can find letters to build simple words, slide Mr. Pencil under words to hear them sounded out and practise writing their own first, middle and last names after an adult adds them to the toy. Mr. Pencil can draw pictures with dotted lines for children to trace, and the screen can also be used for free drawing.
