Squishies

The Squishy Craze in Ireland

The fun of a squishy starts as soon as you pick one up. Squeeze it, squash it, press it between your fingers and watch what happens when you let go. Some bounce back quickly, some take their time, and others have a soft filling that moves around inside as you squeeze.

Squishies have become especially popular in Ireland during 2026. Irish toy retailers have reported strong demand, while TikTok videos showing squishy collections, unboxings, new finds and restocks have helped more people discover different shapes and textures. Children, teenagers and adults have all been getting involved in the craze.

So Many Ways to Squish

Not every squishy feels the same. Some are soft and springy, some feel thick and gooey, some are jiggly or sticky, and others slowly return to their original shape after a squeeze. Trying different textures is part of what makes collecting them fun.

There is also no single way that every squishy is made. Traditional foam squishies, gel filled squishies and Taba style squishies can feel completely different in your hand. That gives you plenty to choose from if you already know the kind of squish you like, or if you simply want to try something new.

Food Shaped Squishies

Food shapes have become a big part of squishy collecting. Cakes, donuts, ice lollies, sweets, dumplings and other familiar foods are being turned into colourful toys that can be squeezed and squashed again and again.

The food theme works particularly well with squishies because the shapes are instantly recognisable and there is always another funny design to find. ToyTown.ie stocks food inspired squishies including cakes, donuts, ice lollies and sweet shaped designs, with different colours, fillings and textures depending on the product.

Scrunchems Squishies

Scrunchems is a sensory squishy range from One For Fun, with squeeze toys made around different textures, shapes and ways to squish. The Scrunchems range includes sensory squishies, scented designs, ASMR style toys and filled squishies.

Scrunchems food shaped toys fit right into the current squishy craze. ToyTown.ie stocks sweet inspired designs including cakes, ice lollies, donuts and sugar style squishies. Some Scrunchems Sugar products use a thick gel style filling that moves as the toy is squeezed, giving them a very different feel from a traditional foam squishy.

MushyKinz Taba Squishies

MushyKinz was founded in 2024 and has built its range around character squishies and collecting. MushyKinz characters include animals such as cows, axolotls, bears, dogs, pigs, frogs, tigers and foxes, with different versions available across its squishy ranges.

MushyKinz is particularly known for its Taba Squishies. The brand describes its original Taba texture as soft, jiggly and sticky, with a quick, bouncy rebound after squeezing. Characters such as Chip the Cow, Mochi the Axolotl, Button the Bear, Rosy the Hamster and others give the range a strong collecting side as well as a different squishy feel.

MushyKinz Jelleez feel different again. They contain a maltose filling that gives them a firm, smooth and doughy squish, followed by a slow return to shape. That difference between a quick rebound Taba squishy and a slower Jelleez squish makes it easy to see why people end up wanting to try more than one type.

Squishies and Sensory Play

Squishies are also part of the wider world of sensory and fidget toys. Squeezing, pressing and releasing gives your hands something simple to do, while the different surfaces, fillings and rebound speeds change the way each toy feels.

Scrunchems is sold as a sensory squishy range, while MushyKinz also describes its products around their tactile squish and texture. Age recommendations, fillings, materials and warnings can vary between products, so check the individual product page when choosing a particular squishy.
