Toy Vehicles FAQ
What’s the difference between push-along, friction-powered and battery-operated vehicles?
Push-along models move by hand. Friction vehicles store a short burst of energy when pushed forward, then roll on their own. Battery-operated or RC vehicles use batteries or rechargeable packs to power lights, sounds or remote-controlled driving.
Are RC cars suitable for outdoor use on grass or gravel?
Yes, if the model is designed for off-road use. Look for treaded tyres, higher ground clearance and robust bumpers. 4WD offers better traction than 2WD on uneven surfaces; avoid deep water unless the electronics are rated splash-resistant.
What do RC scales like 1:10 or 1:16 mean?
Scale indicates the model’s size relative to a real vehicle. A 1:10 car is roughly one-tenth the length of its full-size counterpart (larger and typically faster than 1:16). Bigger scales usually have more ground clearance and stability.
Do toy vehicles include batteries, and which types are used?
Battery requirements vary by model. Some use AA/AAA cells for lights and sounds; RC sets may include a USB-rechargeable pack for the vehicle and AA/AAA for the controller. Check each product’s contents list for what’s included.
