Pedal Toys Guide
Pedal toys suit different stages of learning to ride. Younger children may begin on ride-ons that let them push along with their feet before they start using pedals. Some first trikes use a parent handle and front-wheel clutch, so an adult can push the trike while the child's feet rest on the pedals before they move on to pedalling independently.

Larger pedal tractors work differently. They use a chain-driven pedal system and are sized for children who can steer and pedal on their own. Depending on the model, they can have adjustable seats, loaders and couplings for compatible trailers and accessories. Rolly makes several pedal tractor sizes for different age and height ranges.
Size matters because a toddler ride-on and a large pedal tractor place the child in very different riding positions. Seat height, pedal reach, steering position and overall dimensions all affect whether the toy is suitable for the rider. Age and height guidance is particularly important with Rolly tractors because several of the tractor families overlap in age while covering different rider heights.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do Rolly trailers fit all Rolly pedal tractors?
Rolly states that both its large and small trailers fit its tractors as part of the Rolly accessory system. The manufacturer recommends considering the child's age and the size of the tractor, because a large or heavily loaded trailer can be difficult for a younger child to pedal.
Can the pedals on a Rolly pedal tractor be adjusted for a child's height?
No. Rolly states that the pedal crank cannot be adjusted in height or size. The eccentric bearings around the pedal crank are used to adjust chain tension, not to change the riding position.
Why does only one rear wheel drive a Rolly pedal tractor?
Rolly tractors drive the left rear wheel. When a vehicle turns, the inside and outside wheels travel different distances. Driving both rear wheels from a single continuous axle would make turning more difficult unless a differential was fitted between them.
Can the chain tension on a Rolly pedal tractor be adjusted?
Yes. Rolly uses eccentric bearings around the pedal crank to adjust chain tension. The manufacturer identifies loose chain tension as one possible cause when the pedals begin spinning or a crackling noise occurs while pedalling.
Can the BERG GO² be used indoors and outdoors?
Yes. BERG states that the GO² is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
Do the tyres on a BERG GO² need to be inflated?
No. The BERG GO² uses four EVA tyres, which BERG states do not go flat.
