The 40 experiments include making colour changing milk, investigating why an eggshell can disappear, testing acids and alkalis, exploring dissolving and absorption, examining evaporation and condensation, separating mixtures and investigating density. The instruction guide divides the experiments into different science topics so each subject can be explored through practical activities.

The set includes measuring and testing equipment such as a measuring scoop, syringe, beaker, pipette, test tubes, test tube rack, funnel and conical flask. Red and blue colouring, sand, cress seeds, pH strips, a pH card, black card, a paintbrush and safety goggles are also supplied.

Some experiments require common household ingredients from the kitchen. Examples given in the official instructions include lemon, vinegar, bicarbonate of soda, soap, salt, pepper and eggs. The instructions identify the additional ingredients needed for each individual experiment.

The experiments cover chemical substances and reactions, dissolving, absorbing, evaporating and condensing, separating, chemical and physical changes, density, liquid properties, mixing, enzymes, natural processes and metals. Safety activities are also included to help children recognise hazards while carrying out experiments.
