Mini GT Guide

MINI GT is a diecast model car brand known mainly for 1:64 scale cars. The range includes road cars, racing cars, tuned cars and officially licensed movie cars from manufacturers such as Nissan, Porsche, Ford, Aston Martin, Bugatti, Honda and BMW.

The product names can contain a lot of information. Kaido House, Liberty Walk, VeilSide and NISMO tell you who is connected with the styling or performance of the car. R32, R33, S13 and EF refer to the real car's generation or chassis. RHD and LHD tell you where the steering wheel is. V1, V2 and V3 are used on Kaido House releases to mark later versions of the same Kaido design.

MINI GT

MINI GT was introduced in 2017 as part of the TSM model family. The range is best known for small diecast models of real cars, with 1:64 used across the main MINI GT line.

A title such as MINI GT Ford GT Triple Yellow LHD can be read piece by piece. Ford is the manufacturer. GT is the car. Triple Yellow is the paint colour. LHD means the model has a left hand drive interior.

Other MINI GT titles contain the names of tuning companies, motorsport divisions, film licences or collaborating brands. That is where names such as Liberty Walk, VeilSide, NISMO, Kaido House and 007 come in.

Kaido House and MINI GT

Kaido House is the automotive design brand created by Jun Imai. Kaido House diecast cars are produced with MINI GT and appear under the Kaido House x MINI GT name.

Cars used by Kaido House include the Datsun 510, Nissan Skyline GT R, Nissan Silvia and Honda Civic. The original car is changed with Kaido House bodywork, stance, wheels, paint and graphics.

Kaido GT Nissan Skyline GT R R33 BFTHR V1 contains several pieces of information:

Kaido GT is the Kaido House diecast line.
Nissan is the manufacturer.
Skyline GT R is the car.
R33 is the Skyline generation.
BFTHR is the name used by Kaido House for that design.
V1 marks that version of the Kaido House release.

Kaido GT models can also include metal bodies, opening bonnets with engine detail, alloy wheels, rubber tyres and plated chassis. The exact features should be checked on the individual model because they can vary between releases.

Liberty Walk, VeilSide and NISMO

Liberty Walk is a Japanese custom car company. When Liberty Walk appears in a MINI GT title, the diecast model is based on a car carrying Liberty Walk styling. Names such as LB WORKS and LB40 come from Liberty Walk.

VeilSide is a Japanese tuning and body styling company. The Nissan Skyline GT R R32 VeilSide Combat C I is a MINI GT model of a Skyline carrying a VeilSide design. The Nissan Z VeilSide FFZ400 follows the same pattern.

NISMO is Nissan's motorsport and performance operation. NISMO belongs to Nissan and appears on both real cars and models based on Nissan performance cars.

Nissan makes the car. Liberty Walk or VeilSide may change the body and styling. NISMO is Nissan's own performance operation. MINI GT makes the diecast model.

R32, R33, S13 and EF

Codes such as R32, R33, S13 and EF come from the real cars.

R32 and R33 identify generations of the Nissan Skyline GT R.

S13 identifies a generation of the Nissan Silvia.

EF is used for a generation of the Honda Civic.

An R32 Skyline GT R and an R33 Skyline GT R are therefore two generations of the real Skyline GT R.

V1, V2 and V3

Kaido House uses V1, V2, V3 and later numbers when a design returns in another release.

Datsun 510 Street Nismo V3 is a V3 release of the Street Nismo design. V3 is not a Datsun generation number.

A title can contain both a real car code and a Kaido House version number. In R33 BFTHR V1, R33 belongs to the Nissan Skyline GT R. V1 belongs to the Kaido House release.

RHD and LHD

RHD means right hand drive.

LHD means left hand drive.

MINI GT uses these letters when the steering position is part of the model specification. The same car can therefore appear as an RHD or LHD release.

MINI GT 007 Movie Cars

MINI GT also produces officially licensed cars from the James Bond films through its 007 range.

The range includes models from films such as Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever, For Your Eyes Only, Tomorrow Never Dies, Die Another Day, Skyfall and No Time To Die.

The Aston Martin DB5 appears in several Bond films, so MINI GT can release more than one DB5 with a film name attached. A Goldfinger DB5 and a battle damaged Skyfall DB5 refer to two film appearances of the same Aston Martin model.

MGT and KHMG Model Numbers

The item number identifies the exact release.

Standard MINI GT releases normally use item numbers beginning with MGT.

Kaido House x MINI GT releases use item numbers beginning with KHMG.

This becomes important when one car appears in several colours, liveries or versions. The item number separates one release from another even when the names are very similar.

Chase Models

A chase is a rarer variation of a release.

Kaido House states that its chase variations are randomly packed and can replace the standard model. The change can involve colour, finish, wheels or other details depending on the release.

Chase and V1, V2 or V3 mean two different things. V1, V2 and V3 mark release versions. Chase refers to a rarer variation of one of those releases.

Why the Same Car Appears More Than Once

MINI GT can release the same car in several colours, liveries and steering configurations. The same car can also appear as a road car, tuned car, race car or movie car.

This is why the MINI GT catalogue can contain several Nissan Skylines, Aston Martin DB5s or Porsche 911s without them being the same release.
